This design incorporates the signature blue and yellow colors of the Boston Marathon as well as the colors of the rainbow to symbolize diversity.  It also includes symbolic running lanes.  Each lane has a word that represents why runners participate in a marathon. The words are: Happiness, Challenge, Achievement, Thrill, Discipline, Love, Joy, Freedom, Hope, Peace, Unity, Excitement, Fun, and Goal.  This depicts an aerial view of the runners as if a drone is capturing the view.  The runners' shadows spell the words on the track symbolizing a marathoner's reason for running.
