Perseverance is at the heart of a marathon, be it 26.2 miles or 80 years of a well-lived life. Three years ago, in an effort to dull the pain of the artist's fourth cancer diagnosis, she found joy in making art. She used seaglass and shells, treasures whose beauty comes from years of churning in the relentless ocean. The glass and shells on this piece each have a story and origin.  Most were collected on beach trips, but some are from loved ones.
