As we enter a new cycle of seasons since our last encounter, many things in this world have changed. In an effort to ground us in these trying times, I chose my Winged Foot design to represent a constant throughout Indigenous culture, the Medicine Wheel. This symbol represents the harmonious balance and peaceful interaction among all beings in the universe.
The Medicine Wheel exhibits the sacred cycle of life (birth, youth, adult, elder), the cardinal directions (north, south, east, west) nature’s key elements (fire, earth, water, wind), the seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter), and our crucial medicines (tobacco, sweet grass, sage, cedar) thus portraying the interconnectedness of Mother Earth & Father Sky.
