Growing up in Ashland, Marathon Day was always special to me. Every year, I would walk to Dairy Queen to watch the race, appreciating the efforts of all undertaking the challenge. It became even more significant to me in 2012 when my 18-year-old daughter ran Boston and I got to watch her from that same spot as well as in downtown Natick. For my design, I wanted to present something bold and eye-catching. The blue and yellow stripe represents the marathon route. The black and white lines signify the the intersecting roads in the eight communities from which spectators can cheer for the runners.
