The Lenten Rose, or Hellebore,  is the first flower to bloom in my garden in the early spring.  It is always a welcome surprise to find the hardy blooms hiding under dark leaves as I clean up and prepare for the growing season.  To me they represent hope and promise.  Acrylic and Oil Pastel on Cardboard, 11x25 inches
